  Located 119kms west of Te Aanu, Milford Sound is best known of the glacier cut fiords being most beautiful at dawn. Mitre Peak, apparently the most perfect cone from the land, when seen from the water is revealed as part of a chain of peaks. With the highest rainfall in New Zealand, Milford Sound has hanging valleys of native flura and fauna carry fresh water to the sea. Milford Sound has a wide range of native wildlife. Milford Sound is accessed by the Milford road from Te Anau as well as scenic flights to and from Te Anau and Queenstown.
